Abstract

Tourism is understood differently by various authors worldwide. This work focuses on the potential for recreational development in the municipalities of the Thermal Microregion. Each municipality has the opportunity for recreation, and the area we have been monitoring offers various options for spending leisure time. Initially, we dedicated to delineating and characterizing the Thermal Microregion in terms of natural, socio-economic conditions, as well as the state of environmental components. The main part of the research involves evaluating six partial potentials (natural, socio-economic, cultural-historical, selective, realization, and environmental prerequisites) in thirteen municipalities of the Thermal Microregion. Individual partial potentials in the microregion's municipalities are evaluate using a point scale method. Partial summing of partial recreational potential have been pointed and it lead to compare recreational possibilities in the microregion's municipalities. The paper presents recreational opportunities in the municipalities, the point-based assessment of recreational possibilities in the municipalities, and as a result, the recreational potential of municipalities is determined.
