Abstract

In this paper, we deal with the institutional establishing of geography in the Comenius University in Bratislava. Our research is based on archival materials. We will try to clarify some previously inaccurate or vague knowledge in this topic. The first part of the paper deals with the beginning of the lectures in geography and also with process and actors of constituting the first institutional unit at Comenius University, which was “Geographical Seminar”. In the second part, we will draw attention to the less known effort of Jiří Král, which was concerned to the establishment of a readership for the military geography in the years 1937- 1938.
