Abstract

Despite the great potential to become good employees, the European Generation Y faces difficulties in entering and remaining on the labour market, with the result that young people are increasingly becoming unemployed. On the basis of an analysis of the unemployment of the young population in NUTS2 regions of the Visegrad Group countries, executed with help of a multi-criteria indicator, it is clear that the worst situation exists in the peripheral regions of Poland, Hungary and Slovakia. From the point of view of countries, the best situation is in the Czech Republic, while in the other countries the conditions are very similar in terms of the perceptible territorial diversification of the levels of individual regions.

Keywords: Generation Y, labour market, Visegrad Group countries, young people, NUTS2 region
