Abstract

A rare vegetation phenomena - joint occurrence of Silver Fir (Abies alba) and Sessile Oak (Quercus petraea) in the NNR Starý Hrad in Malá Fatra is bound to a group of forest types Fagetum quercino-abietinum Zl. The occurrence of this community was influenced by specific ecological conditions, such as the landform, soil or a close proximity to the narrow meander of the River Váh, where fogs often occur. This paper presents an vegetation analysis of this forest ecosystem and its ecological conditions.
