Abstract
The paper describes the influence of small towns of the Nitra Region on suburbanization. The suburbanization process affects the residential structure. It is demonstrated by migration of residents from cities to suburban zones and countryside. Migration has different economic, social and also environmental consequences. In Slovakia, the suburbanization process is seen and elaborated on the level of larger cities - Bratislava, Košice, Nitra, Prešov, and also Trenčín.
