Abstract
The development of many Slovak regions is closely associated with the entry of foreign capital. In connection with industrial development during the last years we can see a significant occupation of agricultural soil. This situation results from the preference of using greenfield areas for industrial development instead of brownfields. One of the reasons is potential presence of environmental loads in brownfields as a legacy of socialistic industrialization. If there will be no effective legislative solution of environmental loads and brownfield issues in next years, we can expect a continue of this negative trend. This trend of development may be expected also in the territory of Ponitrie, mainly in its southern part. In this article we analyze the agricultural soil occupation in the territory of Ponitrie during the period of years 2000 to 2010.
