Abstract

Maps create specific category of historical-geographical sources. Accurate image of the depicted reality belongs to their strengths which plays important role in the work of historian. Unfortunately, for Slovak historians (not even them) we can state the insufficient level of the use of cartographical data which influences the basic and applied research (Olah, 2003). With the use of several published results, the paper point out to the relevance of map in historical (historicalgeographical) research.
