Abstract
Natural persons - contractors, not recorded in the business register contain sole tradesmen, self-employed farmers, and persons with liberal profession (e.g. doctors, lawyers, artists). Trades in the cities are characterized by doctors, artists or workers working on a trade. In municipalities trade services and self-employed farmers dominate. It is expected that licensed trade increases income, reduces unemployment and increases the quality of life thereby reducing the threat to the slide to the risk of poverty. The aim of this paper is to present and assess the number of tradesmen in the Nitra Region as one of the indicators of poverty
