Abstract

Slovakia ranks globally to the countries with the largest dolomite production capacity, up to 11 million tonnes in the early 1990. Today, around 1.3 to 2.1 million tonnes are harvested. Such massive mining is subject to enormous anthropogenic interference and changes in landscape structure as well as negative environmental impacts. In the municipality of Mýtna in Lučenec district, the mining of dolomite has been going on since 2012 as a construction material for the construction of the expressway R2. The article focuses primarily on the impact of mining on the environment and changes to the landscape structure. It deals with the direct and indirect impact on the environment, which can be positive or negative. Therefore, it is necessary to know how these changes will manifest in the near future.
