Abstract

Pension system can be characterised as system, which provides acceptable rate of income replacement for populations in the post-productive age. Demographic factors, such as, fast ageing of population and low natality, changes in the structure of the economy and employment have resulted in a large-scale reform of the Slovak pension system which was amended several times. It replaced single-pillar PAYG system with three-pillar system with effect from January 2005. The aim of this paper is to analyse II. pillar of pension insurance by using quantitative methods in terms of age structure, asset distribution in individual DSS and yields of individual funds. We can say that 77,6 % of savings in the second pillar is allocated to guaranteed pension funds, but guaranteed funds annually have not been able to assess the assets of the contributir or the level of inflation on average per year. The highest valuation has been achieved by index funds, but not all of them equally well copied the reference index to which they are linked.
