Abstract

The development of rural regions and rural communities has been one of the major topics of European agricultural and structural policy for a long time. Institutions in the European Union are constantly looking for an appropriate mix of agricultural, regional and local policy instruments that are capable of effectively addressing the specific problems of rural space. The essence of development is a qualitative change in the life of its inhabitants. Drawing of subsidy titles by municipalities is a common matter today. Rural municipalities are particularly due to tight budgets, trying to finance their development activities through different grants. They have a choice of subsidies provided by the European Union, the regional offices and the ministries. The aim of the article is to identify relationships between the development level of rural municipalities and their ability to secure their development through external financial resources, by implementing projects funded by the European Union.
