Abstract
CThe aim of the paper is to point out the potential of using mobile geoinformation technologies such as GPS/GNSS devices to improve and promote the skills of geography students. In the paper, we briefly describe geoinformation technologies, especially GPS/GNSS devices, and their use in practice. By working with these technologies, students gain practical skills and on the other hand, learn how to transform measured data into GIS environment. Based on the results of the project entitled "Geoinformation Technologies – the Tool for Improving Quality of Teaching Geography" which was funded by the Tatra banka Foundation, we present particular activities which were carried out by students of the Department of Geography and Regional Development FNS CPU in Nitra in order to improve their skills and innovate their study.
