Abstract

The scientific monograph „Slovak-Czech cross-border region / Genius loci“ presents uniqueness and specificity of regional wealth of this area. This wealth becomes a symbol of a long-term link between people and landscape for both its material and non-material importance. Using the method of historicaldevelopment analysis the author presents a wide variety of cases in which a successful transformation of human activities was made due to the knowledge of the genius loci (regionis) as an internal development force. West-Beskidian Piedmont which covers only 3.8 % of the whole area was used as an example.
