Abstract

This article is focused on the characteristics of the flood risk management on the local level. It is divided into a theoretical part and practical part. In the first part we define the term risk which is crucial in understanding the flood protection. The next section focuses on necessity the integrated flood management at the local level and protection of small communities from the effects of floods. The other part of the article is dedicated to the analysis the flood risk management in the municipality Neverice. After completing field research in June 2013 and April 2014, we collected enough information to characterize the measures implemented on water flow Drevenica and its river basin. Floods in 2010 and 2013 showed us how was the municipality was able to respond to crisis situations of this kind.
