Abstract
Regional development determines the real conditions of a particular area, but also a framework (e.g. legislative conditions). In the case of border areas, usually called outer periphery in the state, however, are also elements and tendencies of the other (neighbouring state). Dining state boundaries thus helps create local events that currently can be seen also as part of the European (EU) integration. Czech borderland includes basically five different sections; two of them - with different historical evolution - are selected as model. Based on the analysis of available policy documents is performed to compare them with the intent to file an answer to what extent we can speak of a cross-border regional development.
