Socioeconomic Trends of Development in the Žilina Region

Abstract
Regional disparities in recent years, with the advent of the EU cohesion policy, became a frequent topic. However, few studies deal with the development of regions at a lower level than self-government regionss. The paper deals with the social and economic disparities between districts of Žilina region. Žilina region is diversified and in some districts in last 10-15 years has been in the socio-economic level a shift. For comparison of districts were selected indicators and their evaluation in the period 2001-2011. The data from The 2011 Population and Housing Census were used.
