Abstract

The paper discusses land use changes in the peripheral rural areas of the city of parts Bratislava – Devín, Záhorská Bystrica, Vajnory, Čunovo, Jarovce, Rusovce between the years 2001 – 2011. Clearly, the research confirmed the suburban tendency of the selected city areas. The most significant increase of suburbanisation was recorded in the Vajnory city area, further Jarovce, and Čuňovo. Specialisation was observed in that water areas of different utilisation increased (energetics, transport and tourism, irrigation). This occurred against agricultural soil and also other land use types.
