Abstract

The year 1989 is associated with an event that has become an important milestone for the Eastern bloc countries, including the Czech Republic too. In addition to the transformation of the political regime and the orientation of the economy towards a market economy, the transformation have also affected the formation of undesirable social phenomena. Some socially pathological phenomena (alcoholism, smoking, drug addiction and high divorce rate) are in the Czech Republic so seriously developing that we will devote them deeper attention here. While in 1980 caused directly by alcohol in Czech Republic 4 169 deaths in men, in 1990, it was already 4 882 deaths. In the 1990 's years of the last century and after the year 2000, while the number of deaths of men started to decrease slightly again, but remained just below the level of the previous decade. In the Czech Republic now die each year, roughly 20% of all deaths from diseases that are affected by smoking. It can be said that 75% of people with chronic diseases of the bronchi may not get sick if they had smoked. In the Czech Republic is dying from smoking every fifth person. A year die from smoking around 18 000 persons. Since the 1990´s years of 20th century, major changes to the structure of the distribution according to the duration of the marriage, when increased representation of divorces during the marriage. In 1991, after more than 20 years after the marriage kept less than 13% of all marriages, which was dealt with in the same year. In 2001, it was already more than 19% and in 2011 represented a marriage lasting more than 20 years have 30% of all divorces.
